Great video and topic. How cold does it get in New Zealand during the winter. I am thinking that your area stays on the warmer side all season. I am so trying to not spend money. Daughter getting married this Friday and family coming in on Thursday. Not very happy with my mother of bride dress but it down to the deadline and just too late to get anything else.
I got my hair braided for the first time and it really makes me feel different having my hair done.

I don't have a lot of money, but I always check the materials and only buy natural fabrics like cotton, linen, wool, leather et cetera.

Style is not about money for me and completely changes the attitude to pretentious when it is. Expressing how I feel and showing respect for myself, my belongings, and others is what I want to reflect.❤
I don’t have an issue with layering. It adds interest to an outfit. I can’t do it this time of year in my location. It is simply too warm. My goal is to stay cool, while looking nice. My style is casual chic, I suppose. I want to be comfortable, yet put together. My goal is not to look expensive. If that is a byproduct, I am fine with it.

There is a reason why we in 2025 admire A girl with a Pearl Earring painting from1665. That beautiful shiny white pearl connects with the white of the eye and creates a visual tension. We respond to it instinctually, it is beautiful. Accessories do that. I love a bright neon yellow accessory to make a classic look fresh.
l agree that we need to look after every item we own and value and enjoy them regardless of cost . I actually find it hard to get rid of pieces because l still love almost everything !! 😅

I like your tips, Leonie, however really dislike the use of the word 'expensive' when describing a person. Elegant, polished, even classy are words that seem more appropriate to what you're describing. (I know expensive has become a buzzword in YouTube/ instagram ; is it the algorithm, I wonder.)

Great tips – felt convicted about not caring for my shoes enough. However, the photo of the young woman with pearls +++ looked great to me – even though I am more of a classic myself – so that would be hard for me to wear. Looking forward to getting the book.
Can we come up with a more comfortable term than "expensive"? It sounds entitled, high maintenance, wasteful, snobbish, elitist. I like some of your observations, but, like another commenter, I'm not a fan of the idea of wanting to look expensive.

Recently discovered the 3 word method for personal style and it’s completely changed how I create looks from my own wardrobe, shop, and edit my closet. Oh no, not Lisa. Sorry, not a fan of overconsumption, etc……which is totally what she’s about. I love you. Her, sorry, not so much. I’m generally opposed to the topic of trying to look expensive but figured you’d do it tastefully. It’s just……..😩
Ironing clothes that need it makes a difference. Unless it’s linen. Then all bets are off.
