Hi! I'm only 41, but definitely struggling to avoid the middle age frump & figure out how to transition into mature, stylish, flattering clothing choices. As soon as I turned 40 I became very aware of how nice it is to look good without dressing like a 25 year old, lol! I appreciate the efforts to continue being stylish as we age. I feel like our society has just started slowly abandoning efforts to look halfway put together & is just looking sloppy. My grandmother worked hard to look as put together as she could even into her 70's and while I didn't appreciate it as a kid, I do now! I think it's important to our psychological health to keep caring for our outer appearance to some degree, weather we decide to follow trends or not. It just keeps us feeling good, which will improve our attitudes about everything else, too. So great job on keeping up with that!

But, I have to say that the comments on this video are so overwhelmingly nasty! People getting all butt hurt & talking like a bunch of cranky, jealous teenagers! What's up with that!? We're all middle aged, we should be beyond that crap! If you don't like her video then go watch something else! Don't listen to that stuff Marnie!

To everyone complaining & being salty:
1: Please don't be nasty. If you don't agree with the ideas presented, that's ok. These are just some ideas for possible outfit choices. We may dig all the ideas, we may not. There's no need to loudly and rudely complain and insult the creator. We're too old for middle school behavior.
2: Geez, I have never seen so many people so desperate to cling to their dern cardigans and capris! My goodness! I agree that capris are an outdated style, though they work well for some. That's ok! She's just making a suggestion! And there are trendy, flattering ways to wear summer/ warm weather styles without it being capris. I get it, I don't look great in shorts either but if you're sensitive about your capris maybe you're not happy with how you dress & it's time to try out some other styles. If not, just own your love for them. Let's be honest with ourselves and own our own insecurities & struggles & fashion taste.

3: Yes, life creeps in and changes things. I care for a now invalid mom, work 50 hrs a week, & fatigue, bad food choices, & heath issues have caused my 5'7 frame to go from a trim 140 lbs to a bulky, poochy in weird places 220. I am not totally happy with how I look. I sure as heck don't look as good as I used to & am fringing on frumpy. Losing a bit of weight would help me look and feel better for sure. I'm the first to admit I need to watch my weight. No shame in us admitting this. And using excuses only keeps us from improving ourselves. We won't ever look like a beautiful, thin 20 year old, and that's ok! We'll look like the mature classy ladies we are! But even with this weight gain & body change, I can work on my figure/ health (even if it's only a little) and still find stylish, flattering clothes and so can you. Not all these presented styles will work for you, and that's ok. Find something that does. There's no reason to be salty.

4: If you don't like where you are or how you look, work on changing things. Even small changes can make big differences. You are not stuck, I promise! When we constantly look for ways to improve what we don't like we will start to feel better and more confident and will be less bothered by the opinions of others.

Hi Marnie – first time I accidentally discovered your podcast. You do have great ideas and suggestions for women past 40 years & up. I feel the same way you do about many women past 40, 50, & up look "frumpy, boring, and look older" with the same ugly styles. The "prints" on dresses, and tops that are sooo ugly. But I've been complimented by women and men in my choices and style through the years. Now, the ONLY IDEA I disagree with you is on shoes. Flats are worn by some women because of medical reasons. I have had three surgeries on both feet. And I will be having major surgery soon on my left knee. My doctor took me off ALL HIGH HEELS. But he said a "reasonable wedge" is fine. I cannot wear the pointy shoe cause of my medical problem of my feet/toes. I used to LOVE WEARING my fashionable gorgeous high heels. But I got to do what's best for my health. I wear cute scrappy flats, leopard print, various cute fashionable sandals, & low boots with a wedge. Thanks Marnie, I will check back with your podcast. Like your ideas. 🤗💥💫

lol…The season thing! Such a joke. I was told to never wear black because I'm so fair. Guess what! Every time I wear black I get compliments. I wear a lot of black.I was also told to wear pastels…those really wash me out. I love to wear bright colors and feel so good in them. Black with a pop of color is one of my favorite. I pretty much agree with everything you suggest except for TWO. The shoes. Pointy shoes, I have always hated them. They are not only uncomfortable, but I think they make your foot look HUGE and weird. The 2nd thing are the capris. I agree about the length being weird at mid calf. I also think the pant leg hitting 2 inches above the ankle is weird. Looks like you are wearing high waters.. Remember when you are a kid and you grew taller and your pants were too short? Yes…that's what it reminds me of. I much prefer my pants hitting just below the knee…to cover up those old knees, lol. Now, this being said…about the shoes and pants…I am a Florida girl, and this might have something to do with how I feel. I don't get much opportunity to wear anything but summer type outfits. New subscriber here…love your channel and the way you present things.

Hi Marnie, this is my second video watched and now subscribed.. The first one was wearing leggings like an adult and it was exceptional. So many, many truths. lol Frumpy is one of my favorite words. I see it often enough to know I don't want to look like that at my young age of 68. Personally I would like to see prints and florals stay on the throw pillows and quilts, not on beautiful women. Solids are so much more striking and takes nothing away from your looks, makeup and simple stated jewelry. Thank you so much for your videos laced with wisdom and humor.

More important is to wear natural fibers. Polyester and petroleum-based materials are low vibration.

I have found that being overweight is the single issue that makes fashion difficult, especially for ladies like me who are apple shape or, as I call it, potato shape. Even when I was not overweight, I didn't have a waist. The high waisted pants have never fit me properly because to get the waist to fit, it made everything else baggy. I was so happy during the midrise days. Belts are out for me. I have to wear those boxy tops to drape over the rolls. Yes, I'm working on my weight, but even when I'm fit, the waist is such a big issue.

You stood up and showed your top. You have a waist I just recently turned 60 but I have no ways. I didn’t have a waist when I was 20 either. I’m just built like a rectangle so to hide my stomach. I have to hide my waist too how do I keep from looking boxywith a waist that’s the same size as the best in the hips

Let’s face it—-if you’re more than 30 lbs overweight clothes don’t look good. Americans need to rein in the calories and slim down (including myself).

As far as the boxy shirts, it would be nice if the designers of today knew what A-Line was! 😏

I love "dressing your truth" by Carol Tuttle… it is a little different than wearing your 'season' but very applicable. I dont follow her "rules" to a tee, but they are a good guideline to help you find what suits your 'nature' best. If you wear a 3/4 sleave and you like it and feel good in it, keep doing it. Some people do look great in florals, others dont. I suggest that book to anyone searching for their " right style"

Boxy tops came in because manufacturers wanted to lower costs and no longer produce fitted shirts, so sizes like 4 with a defined waist disappeared.

Some of us do not wear any make-up at all.
What is the difference between 3/4 length sleeves and long sleeves you roll up to the same length? They look exactly the same!
Seasons do make a huge difference. It may have a new name now, but it is still the same. Even if your favorite color is pink or yellow and you love clothes in those colors, you may look washed out and sick in them.
