The original story that I heard was that after Princess Diana passed away they were each given a choice to pick something of a momento. William picked her watch and Harry picked the ring. After William met Catherine and told Harry that he wanted to marry her, Harry gave the ring to William and said this belongs on the finger of the next Queen. So they switched. And this does kind of make sense when you look at that the fact that Catherine has the ring and Meghan wears the gold watch. Maybe this story is true and maybe Harry is now making up the other story that he never had the ring because he knows Meghan would blow her stack if she knew he had that ring in his possession and gave it away.😂😂
the eternity band is ok but personally I would go for rectangle 2 carat sapphire with trillion
on each side..I don't know if she chose the eternity band? but that s all I have to say
the sapphire was a good choice right before diamonds became lab grown. It was a shift away from the largest diamond race-which are now very low for very high carats and attainable by everyone. A deep sapphire is going to be hard to match, hard to obtain, and now in demand as alternatives.
I do wish Catherine would bust out more of the sapphire jewels from the royal vaults. HMKCIII adores her and would let her have almost anything she could wish to wear. ❤
PoW had to resize the ring one size down. It was made smaller by soldering little balls inside of the shank. The ring also has had a couple of more claws added.
I would imagine that the Garrard’s sapphire and diamond ring would be heavy on the hand. If memory serves, it’s a 12 karat sapphire, with probably a couple of karat’s worth of diamonds. A smaller ring would be more comfortable to wear. And having gone through surgery and chemotherapy (and Heaven only knows what else), Catherine is probably wanting a more comfortable ring to wear. I also imagine the new diamond and sapphire ring has been bought to celebrate the end of her chemo treatments.
I think that since she has lost weight, the ring is loose. Being a heavier ring, it would tend to roll too much.
Diana's beauty is timeless. Camilla doesn't compare. Diana will always be the people's princess.

It was clear that after her chemo treatment, Catherine had lost some weight and the engagement ring was swivelling freely around her finger.
It's not difficult to imagine that William has given her a custom-made ring that incorporates a sapphire with diamonds in an eternity ring to symbolise her recovery and hope for their future. Just a guess on my part. Eternity rings are usually given after the birth of a child, so this may also be relevant to that sapphire & diamond eternity ring. Who knows?

Maybe she took off her engagement ring so she can show her new eternity ring that Price William gave her, it would be have to see if you a huge sapphire sitting above it. The fact that Prince William gave her an eternity ring after her chemotherapy symbolises their never ending deep love and connection for each other. It’s Prince will promise to always love and cherish her ♾️ forever and Princess Catherine is very proud of her new ring and wants to she it off to the world 🤍💙🤍.

The ring was a little too large for Catherine , apparently small rounds of metal were added to the inside of the band to make it smaller without altering the ring .
The sapphire is a 12-carat Ceylon sapphire. Ceylon (now Sri Lanka) is famous for its sapphires, from dark blue like Diana’s through to cornflower blue and even white and pink. And if you travel there it’s quite easy to get a good jeweller to make a copy of any of these pieces but at a lower budget.
Maybe her engagement ring is too loose right now due to weight loss from chemotherapy.

I imagine that it might have become a bit loose due to her chemotherapy. It might be for safety’s sake so that it doesn’t slip off. Spinning rings are not comfortable to wear.
I've heard that MM tried to get Brother Charles involved in trying to get the sapphire ring back since Hasbeen was supposed to have favored it first. Like at this point she's ever getting it!
It's a magnificent engagement ring. It's totally iconic. For me, its colour is too dark blue, which blacks out. I prefer more bright cornflower blue 💙 because it shows the colour at a distance. I'm sure the diamonds are D in colour and flawless. Diana's ring 💍 is still lovely and opulent

Actually, the sapphire engagement ring was a little too big for Catherine, so, Gerad put platinum beads inside the ring to make it fit Catherine. She didn’t want to resize the ring.

I read that it didn’t fit, they didn’t want to change the ring by making it smaller, so the added white gold little spheres so that the ring would fit better.
I think this ring brings bad luck.

The sapphire isn’t exactly something I would wear but there’s no question that it’s a gorgeous ring. Even I take my rings off as soon as I get home and mine are no where near the size of hers. So I can imagine the size of it plays a big factor in changing out her rings at home. Also, I love the mix matched look she has going with her rings currently! It’s very unique and it’s like a story told over time in a way.

Without the marriage that that ring signified and sealed, Prince William would not exist. Therefore, regardless of the ultimate outcome of the marriage – which neither Diana nor Charles have ever claimed was without its very happy periods, and genuine love – it is a wonderful symbol of love and life for William's marriage to Catherine. Bad luck superstitions are just medieval nonsense.
