As a fellow ex-dorky-10-year-old, I feel incredibly uncomfortable with a look that i associate with childhood being sexualized. I’m not saying that it’s necessarily wrong for everyone, but it sure gives me the ick 🫣
I’m short too 4ft 11
Something I did in the early 2000s as well was the big cuff but it was more of a. I walked a lot to everywhere New Yorker and the double cuff never stayed put correctly throughout all that walking and running. So one big cup somehow stayed being short 5'3 every pair of pants needed to be rolled and whether it was fashionable for others or not, at the end of the day not everyone can have paparazzi
Early 2000s in New York City. It was fashion. I was into it but it was more of a look of the irony or in the city. We obviously can't go hunting but here we are in hunting here and making it fashionable at least that's what it meant at that time. I know it's coming back. The early 2000s are making a comeback. I don't know if the new generation sees us the same way as we did because other big cities like Chicago and cities within Connecticut, Boston Philadelphia boo. We all knew it was a sardonic type of fashion. It said something
This is why we’re here. ❤
I look at the hunting camo as the girls taking something that is primarily worn by men and making it ours.
''mob life' and 'mob wives' are antisocial this is nothing to aspire to
This is funny to me because I only wear navy, burgundy, grey and black but I had no idea these were all trending. I will say though I hate business casual/office core clothes so these colors can be worn in a more fun way I promise
army camo is better
I have pointy sling back flats that work with everything
Both animal print and camo I use as neutral
not me liking post of these 😩😩
I kinda like the hunting camo thing because in my mind (depending on how it's styled) it's giving boyish liberal bisexual with mullet who's a skater, which is inherently ironic because actually being into hunting and wearing that print for its intended function is traditionally a hyper-conservative thing? it's just fun for me to see someone in public styling camo with jorts and silver jewelry and a belt loop carabiner and think ooo they get it
I didn’t know the big cuffed jeans were a trend😂😂😂 it is so horrible, no matter how many ppl try to pull it off it will always look bad 🤣🤣🤣
i'm new to your channel but i really appreciate that you include a diversity of different kinds of bodies as inspo pictures. and by this i don't mean just different sizes but also racialized people and wheelchair users etc. i feel like what bodies we see fashion on really impacts the way we see the space i.e. either as exclusive to certain kinds of people or as an avenue for truly open artistic expression for all
I don't mind camouflage on adults, I had one pair of very muted camo print pants I thought were complimentary color with a bit of interest as opposed to a plain green khalkis, But I categorially refuse to see my children ever wear any– it would be different if they used it actually in a hunting atmosphere (which I wouldnt allow either personally lol) but I otherwise think it is disturbing to see a child look militarized.
Office siren is like, you want to be physically desirable by everyone at work, distracting everyone from what you're supposed to do at work, which is, work.
I'm curious whether the relative dorkiness of different glasses shapes is a generational divide. That is, the typical frames when you were ten are dorky, because you associate them with a dorky age. IDK, my childhood glasses were super big and round, and the narrow frames read more adult to me.
Something that usually happens to me is this kinda of universal fashion illumination per say😂 in where I always detect these fashion ¨trends¨ or microtrends before it comes out in the weirdest way, for example the camo trend, about 1/2 months ago my dad was giving away a camo bermuda because he didn´t fit in it anymore, so I tried it on and I loved it, because of the oversize thing going on, how it was low raise in a flattering way for me and it reminded me of my dad🤍and I love it because of course usually I would where clothes that belonged to my mother so to wear something that reminded me of daddy felt cute and nostalgic!💞
Capris pants are between knee and ankle length
I wear hunting camo to feminize something that is traditionally ultra masculine. I want an alt right dude that hunts animals for fun to be pissed that I’m appropriating his culture. I like to pair camo with femme details like the color pink, bows, butterfly clips. An oversized camo hoodie, black baggy pants, and hot pink platform crocs (I wear this outfit often) just some of the ugliest creations of capitalism in one lmao
Personally I love hunting camo as a fun fashion thing & I think it’s because I’ve never seen it in context so to me it’s just like a cool tree print lol
I like the hunting camo core aesthetic bc it reminds me of going hunting with my dad as a little kid so I guess its more nostalgic than anything, I don't think I own any but I like seeing it. I'm more drawn to baggy grunge alt aesthetic bc its comfortable and fits well into my lifestyle.
hi i’m from wisconsin, camo to me is like wearing like an abstract pant to me. almost like the zig zag patterns of the 2020 times or like a neutral that’s a little more fun—wearing camo pants as a kid also helps the nostalgia piece
In terms of colour trends – I have been avoiding the lilac trend. It got so big in Australia with clothing stores filled with pastel purple everywhere. But it really does not suit everyone.
That length of “capris” was called pedal pushers in the 1980s when I was a young teenager. Named after what you’d see men wear in the early 1900 riding a bike. I liked them then.
Omg I had the exact same thing happen at the thrift store with a butter yellow top. It took wearing it around the store and feeling bleh whenever I passed by a mirror to admit it's just not my color.
Agree on disliking knee-length! New capris length is very bermuda shorts to me.
I have a 90's vest that is a textured dark cameoesqe print and I fucking LOVEEE it so bad. I pair it with a crochet top to make the subversive vibes obvious.
Watcing this is my cheetah print shirt
i think the real tree resonates with me because of my upbringing which like you said, influences what we’re drawn to significantly. my background from the desert, neutral tones, military household etc shaped a lot of my liking towards this military aesthetic as well as my neutral color pallete. i’m working on a collection rn integrating my dads old military uniforms and turning them into practical wear. in my head it’s a way of honoring the sacrifices we’ve made to be where we are and i think it can also highlight the current stance of war around the world and how it effects us
Thanks for giving us pictures with varied bodies in the styles you mention! It is appreciated!!
as a camo lover: i've always liked it, even as a kid when it was trending on the 2000s. I think it is because my preferred aesthetic is kinda "you thought I was going to school but I'm actually secretly ready to go on a hiking adventure" core. And might be me, but the camo just falls onto that category pretty well.
I’m inclined to disagree about the mob wife hate. An outfit can be varied in so many ways besides color. Texture, patterns, silhouettes, and of course accessories can make these outfits different from each other. The vibe is there for me. I think a lot of people make it work and make it their own
I’m someone who grew up LOVING capris and capri leggings (under a skirt, of course) in the 2000s.
Personally I think capris are the shorter version. I would call the longer version highwaters, thinking back to a 70s(?) term.
I don't understand butter yellow on white girlies… it just washes us out so bad bc it matches the skin tone. But my dark skinned girlies look absolutely fabulous in it bc it contrasts better
i actually feel like mob wife look died out quickly because everyone got into it right before spring and now its too warm to wear it but idk…we'll see if it returns during fall/winter 2024 lmao
I think I love the “just below the knee” capris for the very reason that you dislike them, and am only now realizing that’s why I like them so much! I’m also short, BUT my legs are kinda long for my frame, and I have a pretty short torso, so I think that the capris cutting off my legs at that point makes them look more proportional to the rest of my body. I def understand people not liking them though!
omg this is so refreshing!!!!
Camo is a neutral.
Youd look hood in it😊
I'm not from America. But there is a little bit of hunting culture in the southland of New Zealand, where one of my exes was from. Their dad gifted us a whole bunch of hunting clothes one year for winter, including some real tree camo pullover jerseys. I wear mine all the time, not only because it's warm and practical for the cold seasons, but because I do actually think it's quite stylish. I love the busy pattern, I love how forresty it looks, I love to pair it with skirts for that juxtaposition of masculine and feminine. Nothing ironic about my love for it at all!
The real tree camo is incredibly thriftable! Go to the men's section of any thrift store that isn't in a major city and you'll find something with this print
in my mind, the leopard print and camo share a similar quality because theyre both small-all over-neutral prints. And i think they can both be a little ironic in a way, so maybe the camo is a more masculine(?) version of an animal print. I like them both and feel like they are both good options to add patterns to an outfit as someone who tends toward muted colors and prints, like i wear very few bright or bold things and camo is a fun little silly addition to the outfits i like putting together
I love burgundy so much😭
No hate to hunting? Pass
I probably wont wear the pale yellow as mich either but i do like the color. Mustard yellow i hate, not on me its just not appealing to my eyes. Maybe its because i can taste the mustard when i see it and i hate mustard
Off shoulder tops are popular atm (at least where I am) and I could never wear them cos of how wide my shoulders are 🙃
Real Tree camo is one of those trends that I bought multiple pieces for but could never put into a feasible outfit that I thought looked good… so now I just have a bunch of real tree… for what? 😭
no hate to hunting? 🤨
